Enjoyed the food at Webbe’s Fish Café, the beer at Ypres Castle and the gardens at Great Dixter. A very comfortable and relaxing stay.

A happy stay, once again.

Lovely part of the world.

Webbe’s Fish Restaurant excellent.

Just a much needed 3 day break, the Boathouse was just what I needed, very cosy and comfortable.

Enjoyed a meal at SI, lovely walks at Rye Harbour and along Winchelsea Beach. Great location to just chill!

Thanks Chris,  I may well be back!!

A well equipped apartment in an interesting location. First visit to the Boathouse – would definitely come again! A real trip down ‘memory lane’ for us after many years absence. Thanks for the wine – a nice gesture. Fish & Chip shop in Mint Shop is popular & v. good! SI good meal and good value for money. Ship Inn expensive and disappointing meal. The Bell good for a drink in patio garden.

Another visit to the Boathouse! Nowhere better to stay in Rye. The Pilot at Dungeness not as good as it was – no longer buy local fish so go across the road and buy fresh Dover sole or plaice & cook in the oven – much better. For lunch drive to Appledore (along the road by Royal Military Canal) and try the White Lion for sandwiches & ploughmans at v. reasonable prices. On this visit  I learned that in early 1944 Churchill visited Rye and Field Marshall Montgomery inspected the trap on the field by the bridge to Camber – all part of the invasion deception plan. More to see and learn about Rye history on our next visit. The Ashford Designer Outlet is excellent for bargains (M&S, Clarke’s, Next, etc etc) and not v. far away.

Enjoyed our second visit to the Boathouse. Comfortable accommodation – love watching the tide coming and going! Webbe’s Fish Café and Landgate Bistro excellent (wise to book as they get busy). Glorious walks at Rye Harbour and from Pett to Winchelsea along the canal. Will certainly be back in the future!

A glorious week – wall to wall sunshine (except Tuesday) and very warm for early April. Visited Dover Castle, Battle Abbey & Battlefield and Bodiam Castle – all well worth the visit. Simply Italian has good authentic Italian food at reasonable prices and the Ypres Castle Inn is good too.

For take-away food (healthy!!) try the Rye Deli in High Street.

And for coffee the Apothecary is excellent (good cakes too!)

Many thanks for the bottle of fizz, Chris; it was much appreciated.

A lovely Easter weekend!

Great walk to Camber Castle & then onto the beach near Winchelsea. Very relaxing, peaceful place to be.

Ideal spot for a good interesting break. A great range of books worth reading. Thank you!

A very wet Bank Holiday! Did not spoil the pleasure of our first visit to Rye. Trips to Great Dixter, Winchelsea village (a real haven of quiet), Winchelsea & Camber Sands, Hastings and Bodiam Castle etc etc. Liked the Woolpack at Brookland. The apt is so comfortable, and evening walks. This side of the river, towards Rye Harbour relaxing and interesting. Thanks!

P.S. Enjoyed the book selection – especially Owen Meany.

Second visit – even more peaceful than the last.

Flat great & very comfortable.

This time :- Dungeness – well worth a visit & small gauge railway. Fond memories of childhood.

Very little birdlife – disappointing but did see 40+ swans in a field!! Turnstones, oystercatchers, plovers, Med. Gulls, tufted ducks, Shelducks – at Rye Harbour.

Ypres Pub – great food but little bit expensive. Great for a special occasion.

Budgens (Supermarket) closed on Sundays

“Simon – the Pieman” shop – terrific for pastries & pies

Italian – good food but service diabolical,
